In a significant breakthrough, the Joint Task Force, Operation HADARIN, has successfully intercepted and apprehended three individuals, including the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Chairman for Birnin Yero Ward, Aminu Ibrahim.
According to military intelligence sources, the arrests were made on Monday in Shinkafi local government area of Zamfara State. The suspects, identified as Aminu Ibrahim, Musa Usman Seun, and Isah Mohammed, were allegedly involved in smuggling arms into the state.
Troops, acting on credible intelligence, swiftly established a roadblock, leading to the capture of the trio. Among the seized items were a substantial amount of Two Million Five Hundred and Eighty Thousand Naira (2,580,000), 1 Volkswagen Wagon, 3 mobile phones, and other undisclosed items.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the recovered money was intended for the exchange of assorted weapons at the Illela border in Sokoto state. The suspects are currently undergoing further interrogation to uncover the full extent of their involvement in the arms smuggling network.
This development raises questions about the alleged connections between a prominent political figure, Aminu Ibrahim, and the illicit arms trade within the region. Authorities are committed to ensuring a thorough and impartial investigation into the matter.
