Yoruba nation activist Chief Sunday Adeyemo, widely known as Sunday Igboho, has announced that his private security outfit, Iru Ekun Security Network, is ready to commence operations but remains pending federal approval. In a statement released on Monday, Igboho confirmed that all necessary documentation for the security firm has been submitted to the Federal Government as he awaits the formal green light to dislodge criminals from forests across the South-West.
The activist expressed a commitment to collaborating with established security agencies, including the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Services, the Nigerian Army, and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps. Igboho stated that the primary objective of the network is to combat the rising tide of kidnappers, bandits, and other hoodlums threatening rural communities, which he described as critical to the nation’s agricultural productivity and food security.
In addition to seeking federal approval, Igboho has pledged full compliance with the Oyo State Government’s regulatory framework for private security firms. Governor Seyi Makinde recently signed an executive order requiring all vigilante and security groups with more than five members to register with the state authorities. Igboho assured the public of his readiness to operate within the bounds of this order, emphasizing that without peace and security, socio-economic development cannot thrive in the region. He commended the administration of President Bola Tinubu for its commitment to tackling criminalities across the country.
