A federal lawmaker representing the Kiru/Bebeji constituency in the House of Representatives, Abdulmumin Jibrin Kofa, has brought together no fewer than 2,000 Imams and Islamic scholars for a dedicated prayer session seeking divine intervention for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, and the electoral fortune of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in upcoming elections.
The mass prayer gathering was held at the Juma’at mosque constructed by the lawmaker in his hometown of Kofa, located in Bebeji local government area of Kano State, drawing religious leaders from across the region. The session was led by Professor Abdullahi Saleh Usman, immediate past Chairman of the National Hajj Commission (NAHCON) and head of the National Islamic Intellectual Forum.
In his sermon, Professor Usman praised the clerics for their unwavering commitment and urged them to sustain their supplications for the country’s leaders. He described President Tinubu as the most qualified among the contenders and encouraged the faithful to stand behind leaders who prioritize national unity and development.
Speaking after the prayers, Jibrin expressed deep appreciation to the Imams and scholars for their dedication. He pointed out what he termed President Tinubu’s consistent support for the northern region, noting that the President has continually invested in the area’s advancement. He called on the clerics to convey this message to their congregations, stressing that prayers combined with grassroots mobilization are essential for national stability.
The religious event was followed by a large assembly at Jibrin’s residence, where he launched a house-to-house visitation campaign in support of President Tinubu and Governor Yusuf, vowing to personally spearhead the effort. According to the lawmaker, who is seeking a fifth term in the House of Representatives, the campaign will cover all parts of Kano South and expand to other parts of the state in the coming weeks, aiming to reach every household. He described the initiative as a grassroots strategy to solidify support for APC candidates and ensure continuity in governance, adding that it would not only spread the party’s progress message but also reinforce the importance of community engagement in politics.
