The ICPC says it denied ADC leaders access to Nasir El-Rufai because of a “subsisting court order.” Nigerians have heard this script too many times before. Anti-graft agencies and the judiciary are increasingly being weaponized to intimidate opposition voices while politically connected allies continue to walk free despite countless allegations hanging over them.

Under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, institutions meant to uphold justice are rapidly losing public trust, appearing more focused on political persecution than genuine anti-corruption. Selective justice is not justice — it is oppression dressed in legal language.

Democracy dies when agencies of state become tools for silencing dissent and targeting opponents instead of protecting the rule of law. Nigerians are watching.
