by Zainab Imam

Boko Haram militants have attacked a military camp in Kukawa Local Government Area, Borno State, killing the commanding officer and several other soldiers. Residents report that insurgents briefly took control of parts of the area, highlighting the ongoing threat.

The attack follows a recent incident in Ngoshe, where militants abducted over 100 women and children and killed civilians, including local leaders.

The Nigerian Army confirmed the deaths but stated that troops engaged the attackers and operations continue to secure affected communities and pursue the insurgents.

The incident underscores the persistent challenge of Boko Haram and its splinter group ISWAP in northeastern Nigeria.
