APC Osun: A Call for Genuine Reconciliation

By Olumide Osunsina

The recent developments in the Osun State APC have left many wondering if the party has indeed become tone-deaf to the cries of its members. The emergence of the party's candidate and deputy governor has sparked controversy, with many feeling sidelined and disenfranchised.

As a respected voice in the party, it's time to call for genuine reconciliation. The notion that the party can move forward without the collective input of its leaders and members is a recipe for disaster. We must jettison this idea of exclusion and embrace inclusivity.

The manner of the party's candidate selection has generated crises, and the deputy governor's emergence without regard for the aggrieved governorship aspirants is a ticking time bomb. It's time for the party to take a step back and reassess its priorities.

The prolonged malice has gone too far as they jettisoned Sen Omisore and picked a deputy in his domain. Is he now expected to campaign for votes in this environment or accept new, emerging faces with little influence in his area? The candidate reportedly emerged without his knowledge. This is political malice taken too far.

We understand the fact that pronounced clauses of "disqualification" as stated by the party committee may continue to hang on those governorship aspirants unless and unless the party reversed the indictment statement.

Old party members are also in suspense over their fate regarding their ambitions, as some decampees of less than 3 months in the party are already dropping hints of automatic tickets.

Rather than pushing for individual interests, let's work towards healing the wounds and uniting the party. We owe it to ourselves, our supporters, and the people of Osun State to present a united front. Let's put the interest of the party above personal ambitions and work towards a brighter future for APC in Osun.
