Idahosa Dismisses Rift Claims With Okpebholo

by Mo Hanif

The Deputy Governor of Edo State, Dennis Idahosa, has dismissed reports alleging a rift between him and Governor Monday Okpebholo, describing the claims as false and the handiwork of mischief makers.

Idahosa, in a statement issued on Thursday, said there was no disagreement or misunderstanding with the governor, stressing that their working relationship remains cordial and focused on delivering good governance to the people of Edo State.

He explained that the rumours, which circulated widely on social media, were intended to create unnecessary tension within the state government and distract the administration from its development agenda. The deputy governor urged residents to disregard such reports and rely on verified information from official sources.

According to him, both he and Governor Okpebholo share a common vision for the state and consult regularly on policy decisions and governance matters. He added that since assuming office, their relationship has been built on mutual respect, cooperation and a shared commitment to improving the welfare of Edo people.

Idahosa further reaffirmed his loyalty to the governor and pledged continued support for the administration’s programmes and reforms, noting that unity within the executive arm of government is critical to achieving meaningful development.

The clarification comes amid heightened political speculation following the inauguration of the current administration, with similar rumours of internal disagreements previously dismissed by the governor himself. Both leaders have repeatedly maintained that they are working in harmony to move Edo State forward.
