The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has condemned the violent disruption of its lawful party activities in Borno State, insisting that the inauguration of the state’s Transitional Committee and Membership Registration Committees was duly authorised by the party’s National Working Committee (NWC).
In a statement issued on Wednesday by its National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, the party said the inauguration—chaired by Mallam Kashim Imam—was conducted strictly in line with party guidelines and approvals, dismissing claims that the exercise was irregular.
The ADC described the actions of individuals who disrupted the process as unacceptable and contrary to the party’s constitution and core values, stressing that such conduct undermines internal democracy and orderly political engagement.
“The ADC is a law-abiding political party governed by clear rules and institutional processes,” the statement said, warning that the party would not allow its internal affairs to be hijacked by individuals acting without mandate or pursuing personal interests at the expense of unity and stability.
The party further called on the and other security agencies to act professionally and impartially by investigating the reported attacks on its members in Borno State and ensuring that those responsible are prosecuted.
Reaffirming its commitment to peaceful political organisation, internal democracy and the rule of law, the said it would deploy all internal and legal measures necessary to protect its members, processes and the integrity of the party.
