As a person of faith, I've often been asked about the nature of God's involvement in human affairs. Does God take sides, or is He neutral? The answer, in my opinion, lies in understanding God's character and principles as outlined in the Quran.
From an Islamic perspective, it's clear that Allah is just and fair. The Quran reminds us that "Allah does not wrong people at all, but it is the people who are wronging themselves" (Quran 10:44). This verse emphasizes Allah's commitment to justice and fairness.
My experiences in politics and community service have taught me that true leadership requires a deep understanding of God's nature. As a former member of the House of Representatives, I've seen how decisions can impact lives. I've learned to trust in Allah's sovereignty, even when faced with uncertainty. The Quran reassures us that "Allah is the best of planners" (Quran 3:54), and His wisdom is beyond human understanding.
In my interactions with people from diverse backgrounds, I've come to realize that Allah's mercy and guidance are available to all. The Quran states, "My mercy encompasses all things" (Quran 7:156). This verse reminds us of Allah's boundless compassion and love for His creation.
As a leader, I must acknowledge that I have a responsibility to my people. I was born by a Sheik, well known for his principle of fairness to mankind, and I have chosen to see life and opportunities as coming only by the consent of Allah. My creativity and love for my people cannot be overemphasized. I was born because of Ile-Ife, and time and opportunity shall prove me right soonest.
I have also seen that deploying excessive energy towards a course does not guarantee the reward; He alone, the Creator, can compensate us adequately. Never shall I be seen to betray any soul that has touched my life positively. This commitment to loyalty and gratitude is a fundamental aspect of my being.
As we navigate life's complexities, it's essential to recognize that Allah's ways are not our own. His perspective is broader, and His wisdom is beyond human understanding. By trusting in His goodness and sovereignty, we can find peace and guidance in uncertain times.
Ultimately, the question of God's neutrality is not about whether He takes sides, but about whether we align ourselves with His principles and values. By seeking to understand and follow Allah's ways, we can live a life of purpose and fulfillment. The Quran encourages us to "be patient and establish prayer" (Quran 2:153), trusting in Allah's plan and guidance.
May we strive to trust in Allah's goodness and sovereignty, even when the world around us seems uncertain. May His wisdom guide us as we navigate the complexities of life.
