A former Senator representing Edo South Senatorial District, Ehigie Uzamere, has formally resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), ending years of association with the party under whose platform he once served in the National Assembly.
In his resignation letter addressed to the PDP Ward 12 Chairman in Ovia North East Local Government Area, Mr. Osaigbovo Godspower, Uzamere said his decision to leave the party was not borne out of bitterness or animosity but a conviction to pursue his political ideals on a platform that better aligns with his vision for effective service to the people.
The letter read in part:
“Politics for me has always been a vehicle for service and representation. After deep reflection on the evolving political landscape, I have decided to seek a platform that better resonates with my ideals and aspirations for our people. This decision is not made in anger but with gratitude for the experiences and opportunities I had in the PDP.”
While Uzamere did not reveal his next political destination, sources close to him suggest that he may be heading to the African Democratic Congress (ADC). The former lawmaker, a known ally of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, is reportedly in consultation with key stakeholders on his next political move.
Uzamere, who represented Edo South in the 7th National Assembly, was known for his advocacy on issues of national development, youth empowerment, and infrastructural renewal. During his tenure, he contributed to several motions on education reform, economic diversification, and social welfare, earning him recognition among his constituents as a bridge-builder and consensus seeker.
The former senator expressed gratitude to the PDP leadership and members for their past cooperation and pledged continued collaboration for the progress of Edo State and Nigeria, irrespective of political affiliation.
