Hon. Rotimi Makinde is a prominent Nigerian politician and philanthropist who has made significant contributions to his community and the country's political landscape. Born in Ile-Ife, Osun State, Makinde attended Ansarudeen Primary School and later studied accounting at Sokoto State Polytechnic (now Waziri Ibrahim Polytechnic) in Kebbi State. He also holds a Master's degree in Finance from Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH).
Makinde worked at the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) for 20 years before resigning in 2006 to pursue a career in politics. He represented Ife Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives and was a key figure in the formation of the South-West Agenda for Asiwaju (SWAGA), a frontline platform that campaigned for President Bola Tinubu's presidency since 2020.
Makinde is known for his philanthropic efforts, which include empowering individuals through livelihood support, improving education infrastructure, and enhancing healthcare services. He has provided over 100 individuals with cars, 200+ families with tricycles, and countless youth with motorcycles. Additionally, he has trained numerous young people in computer skills and provided working tools, equipment, and capital to budding entrepreneurs.
During his tenure in the House of Representatives, Makinde moved several key motions and implemented various initiatives. He provided mobility support to all 42 ward youth leaders, demonstrating his commitment to empowering young people. Makinde also facilitated interventions in times of crisis, such as the fire disaster at Oja Tuntun Market and the rainstorm in Ikija ward, Ife South local government Area. His efforts extended to improving education infrastructure, including the renovation of AUD Primary School Isale Agbara and the construction of 26 classrooms at Community High School on Ondo Road in Ile-Ife.Even as a Muslim,he built a church of 500 seaters capacity and additional 2 bedrooms flat for the window of the slain pastor and in memory of those who were brutally killed a day to his election. Furthermore, he established Oodua FM in Ile-Ife, expanding access to information and entertainment for the local community and to create employment in large numbers for the youths.

As a successful businessman with experience in oil and gas, car sales, and hospitality, Makinde has brought his expertise to the public sphere, making a lasting impact on the lives of many.
