Faruk Illo Media Slams Aliero, Others Over Call to Arrest Malami

The call by Senator Adamu Aliero and elements of the Kebbi State APC leadership for the arrest of former Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, SAN, has sparked nationwide condemnation. Hon. Faruk Ibrahim Illo’s media team described the move as “unjustifiable, politically motivated, and a direct threat to Nigeria’s democratic principles.”

The controversy comes in the wake of a petition filed by Malami against the Kebbi State government following the violent attack on his convoy on September 1, 2025. The incident left several people injured and caused extensive damage to property. The statement further called on the Kebbi APC leaders to rescind their demand immediately and engage in constructive dialogue instead of using political influence to harass a respected public figure. Observers noted that such calls are particularly alarming in a state where political rivalries have escalated into violence, pointing to the September 1 convoy attack as a stark example of the dangers of political thuggery.
