Betrayal of Trust: Kebbi State's Billions Wasted, Governor's Leadership Under Fire

By Jikan waziri

The people of Kebbi State are facing a harsh reality: governor Nasiru has failed them. A recent investigation into the Yauri township roads has exposed the governor's reckless and deliberate awarding of contracts to local contractors. A staggering N5 billion was spent on rehabilitation, but the roads barely lasted a year. This egregious waste of public funds raises serious questions about the governor's priorities and the criteria used for awarding contracts.

Is it merely a matter of favoritism towards local contractors, rather than ensuring value for the taxpayers' money? The Kebbi State Government's claim of spending N79 billion on capital projects in 2024 is nothing short of alarming, considering nothing tangible has been achieved. Two years of massive contract awards, yet no transformation. The citizens of Kebbi State deserve better governance, transparency, and accountability.

Governor Nasiru's actions can be seen as a betrayal of the public's trust. It's time to demand answers about the handling of public funds and the awarding of contracts. The Citizens of Kebbi State must demand a change in the way contracts are awarded and public funds are managed. Anything less would be a disservice to the state's development and progress.

Notwithstanding, we urge the people of Kebbi State to rise up and demand better from their government. It's time for the governor to change his leadership style and focus on the reality on the ground. The state's future depends on it. We need:

✓Transparency in contract awarding processes

✓Accountability for public funds management

✓A shift from favoritism to merit-based decision-making

The people of Kebbi State deserve nothing but the best. It's time for change...
