In what appears to be a major political development ahead of the 2027 governorship race in Kebbi State, Hon. Nafiu Bega, a former State House of Assembly aspirant and respected grassroots leader, has declared total support for Hon. Abubakar Malami (SAN), following a high-level strategy meeting in Birnin Kebbi.
Though Malami is yet to officially declare his ambition to contest the 2025 governorship election under the African Democratic Congress (ADC), strong indications of a growing movement around his potential candidacy are beginning to take shape.
Bega, who led a delegation of key stakeholders from Yauri Local Government Area, described the meeting with Malami as “highly productive,” adding that discussions focused on grassroots mobilization and political strategy aimed at delivering victory in Yauri and beyond.
“Our visit was a clear demonstration of solidarity and readiness. Hon. Malami’s credibility and connection with the grassroots are undeniable. We are fully committed to ensuring that Yauri becomes a stronghold of this political movement,” Bega said after the meeting.
The Yauri delegation reportedly included youth leaders, mobilizers, and political influencers from across the local government, indicating a coordinated effort to align with Malami’s growing political base.
While Malami has yet to formally announce his intention to run, his recent engagements with critical local actors point to a careful buildup toward a possible declaration. Political analysts believe that should he eventually enter the race, his combination of national experience and local acceptability could make him a formidable contender in Kebbi’s shifting political terrain.
Hon. Nafiu Bega’s open endorsement is being seen as a signal of changing alliances in Kebbi South and a potential rallying point for others who believe in Malami’s capacity to lead.
