Lagos Faces 25-Day Power Disruption – Eko DisCo

By Zainab Adinoyi

Residents and businesses in Lagos and surrounding areas are set to experience a 25-day power outage, as announced by the Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC).

The planned blackout will run daily from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., starting July 28 and ending August 21, 2025. The outage is due to scheduled maintenance by the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) on the Omotosho–Ikeja West 330kV transmission line.

Areas expected to be affected include Lagos Island, Victoria Island, Lekki, Festac, Apapa, Surulere, Ijora, Orile, and some parts of Ogun State.

In a public advisory, EKEDC stated that the maintenance is essential to improve power supply reliability and ensure long-term grid stability. The company advised customers to prepare for the temporary disruption and make alternative arrangements for power supply during the affected hours.

Power will be restored daily after 5:00 p.m., with full services expected to resume after the maintenance concludes on August 21.
