The Federal Government has commenced urgent efforts to repatriate a group of stranded Nigerian citizens from the Central African Republic (CAR), following growing concerns over their safety and welfare in the conflict-prone region.
According to official sources, the affected Nigerians, most of whom were working in Bambari, had been facing dire conditions after being left without valid travel documents and adequate support. In a coordinated operation, the Nigerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has successfully retrieved their passports and initiated evacuation procedures.
To ensure their safe passage, a military-escorted vehicle has been dispatched to transport them from Bambari to the nation’s capital, Bangui, where final arrangements for their repatriation are being made. The operation is being carried out in collaboration with CAR authorities and the employers of the stranded Nigerians.
The Ministry emphasized that the welfare, security, and rights of Nigerians abroad remain a top priority of the Tinubu-led administration. It also noted that steps are being taken to prevent future incidents by tightening oversight on Nigerian migrant workers and ensuring better diplomatic coordination with host countries.
Officials added that the evacuated individuals would be received by Nigerian authorities upon their arrival and provided with the necessary post-return support to reintegrate them safely back into society.
