Kano, May 11, 2025 – Aliko Dangote, Africa’s richest man and Chancellor of Aliko Dangote University of Science and Technology (ADUSTECH), Wudil, has pledged ₦15 billion to transform the institution into a world-class university. The announcement, made during the university’s 5th combined convocation ceremony, outlines a five-year plan to position ADUSTECH among Nigeria’s top three universities.
The ₦15 billion will fund critical projects, including new male and female hostels, a cutting-edge engineering laboratory, a multipurpose computer lab with 24-hour internet, a mini solar power plant for reliable electricity, and a modern Senate building. Dangote also promised post-NYSC job opportunities for top engineering graduates at his refinery, petrochemical, and cement plants, boosting career prospects for students.
“This is a commitment to academic excellence and innovation,” Dangote said, emphasizing collaboration with the university’s Governing Council and development partners to ensure timely delivery. Vice-Chancellor Prof. Musa Tukur Yakasai hailed the pledge as a game-changer, while Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso praised its potential to reshape tertiary education in the region.
The announcement drew further support, with industrialist Dahiru Mangal pledging a 500-capacity female hostel. Dangote’s track record of educational philanthropy, including multimillion-naira donations to Ahmadu Bello University and Bayero University, underscores the credibility of this ambitious vision.
As ADUSTECH embarks on this transformative journey, stakeholders are optimistic that the university will emerge as a beacon of academic excellence, driving innovation and opportunity in northern Nigeria.
