The Managing Director of the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA), Hon. Ahmed Umar Faruk, has issued a strong warning to Nigerian youth, urging them to resist being manipulated by politicians seeking to destabilize the country for their selfish interests.
Speaking in Abuja on March 6, 2025, during an award presentation by the Nigeria Youth Organization (NYO), Hon. Faruk emphasized the critical role young people play in national development and cautioned against being used as agents of chaos.
"Nigeria's youth are the heartbeat of our nation. Their energy, creativity, and resilience should be channeled into building a better future, not into destructive political agendas," he stated.
He expressed concern over the growing trend of politicians exploiting young people to incite violence, spread misinformation, and fuel unrest. According to him, such actions only serve the interests of a few while leaving the youth vulnerable to legal consequences, loss of opportunities, and a bleak future.
"It is heartbreaking to see young Nigerians being used to attack institutions, spread hate, and disrupt the peace of our nation. The same politicians who use them for personal gain will abandon them when trouble comes," Hon. Faruk warned.
The NAMA boss advised the youth to embrace productive engagements such as education, entrepreneurship, and technological innovations, which have the potential to transform their lives and the nation as a whole. He stressed that the future belongs to those who invest their time in positive endeavors.
"I urge every young Nigerian to think beyond today. Don't allow yourselves to be pawns in political games. Instead, focus on building careers, acquiring skills, and contributing to national progress," he urged.
The event, which saw Hon. Faruk receiving an Award of Excellence from the NYO for his outstanding leadership, also highlighted the importance of collaboration between youth organizations and government agencies in advancing national development.
The NYO President, Comrade Okorie C. Okorie, who presented the award alongside his deputy, Comrade Nasir Ismail Doka, reaffirmed the organization's commitment to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope security agenda and pledged to work with institutions like NAMA to promote stability and progress.
Hon. Faruk’s call comes at a crucial time when Nigeria faces political tensions and economic challenges, making it imperative for young people to stay vigilant, reject divisive politics, and focus on constructive engagements that will shape a better future for the country.
