The Nigeria Youth Organization (NYO) has honored Hon. Ahmed Umar Faruk, the Managing Director of the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA), with an Award of Excellence in recognition of his remarkable leadership and contributions to the agency and the nation’s aviation sector.
The award was presented on March 6, 2025, in Abuja by NYO President, Comrade Okorie C. Okorie, who was flanked by his Deputy President (North), Comrade Nasir Ismail Doka. While presenting the award, Comrade Okorie commended Hon. Faruk for his dedication to enhancing airspace safety and modernizing Nigeria’s aviation infrastructure.
"Hon. Faruk has demonstrated exceptional leadership in ensuring the efficiency and security of Nigeria’s airspace. Under his watch, NAMA has continued to play a crucial role in aviation management, and we are proud to recognize his efforts," Comrade Okorie stated.
He further emphasized NYO’s commitment to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope security agenda, noting the critical role of agencies like NAMA in national development. "We believe in the security and development vision of President Tinubu, and we seek collaboration with NAMA to ensure that Nigeria’s airspace remains safe and well-managed," he added.
As part of the event, Comrade Okorie also presented the 2025 NYO emblem to Hon. Faruk as a symbol of the organization’s continued engagement with national institutions.
In his acceptance speech, Hon. Faruk expressed gratitude to NYO for the recognition and assured them of his commitment to supporting initiatives that align with national progress. "I sincerely appreciate this honor from NYO. It serves as a motivation to continue working towards excellence in aviation management. We remain committed to ensuring Nigeria’s airspace remains one of the safest in Africa and beyond," he said.
He also used the occasion to caution Nigerian youth against being exploited by politicians for selfish interests, urging them to remain focused on constructive endeavors. "The youth are the backbone of this country, and I urge them to resist being used as tools of destabilization. Nigeria needs their energy and creativity in nation-building, not in crisis and destruction," Hon. Faruk advised.
