Ododo Welcomes Bello Back From Kuje Prison On Bail

By Rahama Abubakar

Kogi State Governor, Usman Ododo, has expressed immense joy following the return of his predecessor, Yahaya Bello, from the Kuje Correctional Facility on Friday, December 20. Bello, who had been held in custody due to allegations of money laundering, corruption, and involvement in an N80 billion fraud during his tenure as governor, was granted bail by the Federal Capital Territory High Court in Maitama, Abuja.

The former governor was released after fulfilling the bail conditions set by Justice MaryAnne Anenih, which included a N500 million bond and the provision of three sureties, each owning property in prime Abuja areas such as Maitama, Guzape, or Asokoro. Additionally, the court ordered Bello to surrender his passport and restricted him from traveling outside Nigeria without prior approval.

Bello is facing serious charges brought by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), but his release has been welcomed by his supporters, including Governor Ododo, who celebrated his return.
