Makinde Denies Land Grabbing Allegations Over Circular Road Project

By Rahama Abubakar

Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has firmly rejected allegations of land grabbing, responding to public concerns about the Circular Road project and other development initiatives in the state.

In a statement to journalists in Ibadan on Sunday, Makinde explained that the accusations were based on misunderstandings and misinformation. He addressed the controversy surrounding the project, particularly the development of land for infrastructure, which some critics have mischaracterized.

“Look at the issue of the Circular Road and some of the places we are opening up for development,” Makinde said. “Some people are describing me as a land grabber. I am not a land grabber. I firmly believe in the saying that it is only an idiot who will continue to do something the same way and expect a different result. I acknowledge that our past leaders did their best.”

Makinde also pointed out that those accusing him of land grabbing were, in fact, the true land grabbers, seeking to deflect attention from their own actions.
