In a resounding triumph against terrorism, the Nigerian military has achieved a historic breakthrough on Thursday, March 7, 2024, by successfully dismantling the formidable Supreme Headquarters of the insurgent group IPOB/ESN. This strategic compound, entrenched within the rugged terrain of the Mother Valley, sprawls across the Orsu and Ihiala Local Government Areas of Imo and Anambra States. Nestled approximately 5,000 feet below sea level, its remote location provided the perfect cover for the nefarious activities of the terrorists, shielding them from aerial surveillance and facilitating their malevolent operations.
The stronghold, shrouded in dense forest foliage and meticulously fortified, served as the nerve center for IPOB/ESN's operations. It functioned as both a command and control hub, orchestrating the group's sinister agenda, and as a military council headquarters, where strategic decisions were made to perpetuate violence and instability in the region. For years, this bastion of terrorism had eluded capture, posing a grave threat to the safety and security of innocent civilians.
However, through meticulous planning, coordinated intelligence efforts, and unwavering determination, Nigerian troops launched a decisive offensive to root out the insurgents from their entrenched position. Employing advanced tactics and leveraging the latest in military technology, the operation culminated in a swift and overwhelming assault on the enemy stronghold.
