Osun Poll: Adeleke’s Victory Unchallenged as 21-Day Petition Window Closes

by Zainab Adinoyi

The Osun State governorship election petition tribunal has officially closed the 21-day window for filing petitions against the outcome of the August 15 governorship poll, with no legal challenge lodged against the declaration of Ademola Adeleke of the Accord Party as the winner. This development brings a quiet finality to the electoral contest.

According to the final results announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission, Adeleke secured a decisive victory, polling 511,067 votes to defeat his closest rival from the All Progressives Congress, who garnered 444,815 votes . The legal period for any aggrieved party to challenge these figures expired without any petition being submitted to the tribunal. This means the electoral outcome now stands without any formal judicial contest, clearing the path for the governor-elect to assume office without the looming uncertainty of a legal battle over the results.
