Terrorists Suffer Heavier Losses as Troops Step Up Operations — Defence Minister

by Zainab Adinoyi

Nigeria’s Defence Minister, General Christopher Musa (retd.), has revealed that terrorists across the country are suffering heavier casualties as the armed forces intensify military operations nationwide. Speaking after a strategic meeting with senior military leaders in Abuja, Musa acknowledged that while Nigerian troops have faced some losses, insurgents and criminal networks are bearing the brunt of the fighting.

The Defence Minister emphasized that operations are focused on destroying terrorist assets and eliminating their leadership, urging the public to support the military and avoid spreading unverified information that could undermine morale.

The meeting was prompted by a recent surge in attacks on military bases in the North-East, including Borno State, where both military personnel and civilians have been targeted. Analysts note that these attacks reflect the resilience of extremist groups despite ongoing military offensives, including Operation HADIN KAI, aimed at Boko Haram, ISWAP, and bandit networks.

Musa reassured Nigerians that the military remains committed to restoring national security while calling for continued public cooperation in the fight against terrorism.
