Six Muslim worshippers were abducted on Sunday night by armed bandits while observing Taraweeh prayers inside a mosque in the Azara community of Kachia Local Government Area, Kaduna State. Eyewitnesses said the attackers stormed the mosque during the Ramadan night prayers, forcibly taking the victims to an unknown location before fleeing.
Residents described the incident as sudden and terrifying, with the gunmen operating for only a few minutes. As of now, the Kaduna State Police Command has not issued an official statement, and the condition and whereabouts of the abducted worshippers remain unknown.
The attack adds to the growing security challenges in southern Kaduna, where communities have faced frequent kidnappings and armed raids. Local leaders have called on the government and security agencies to increase patrols and ensure the safety of residents, especially during religious gatherings in the holy month of Ramadan.
The abduction has left the Azara community in fear, highlighting the persistent threat of banditry in rural areas of northern and central Nigeria.
