Wike-Aligned PDP Faction Says Wadata Plaza Will Reopen Monday

by Abu Ibrahim

The faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) loyal to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has announced that the party’s national secretariat at Wadata Plaza will be reopened on Monday.

The announcement was made by Samuel Anyanwu, who spoke as the National Secretary of the PDP caretaker committee aligned with Wike. Anyanwu said the decision followed the resolution of legal and security issues that led to the sealing of the secretariat by the police after violent clashes between rival factions of the party.

He stated that court rulings had affirmed the legitimacy of the caretaker committee, insisting that there was no longer any lawful basis for keeping the secretariat shut. According to him, the reopening would allow the party to resume full administrative and political activities at the national level.

The PDP national secretariat was sealed in November 2025 after confrontations between opposing factions struggling for control of the party’s leadership. The crisis has deepened internal divisions within the opposition party and drawn national attention, particularly due to Wike’s central role despite serving in the federal government under the ruling APC.

Anyanwu maintained that the reopening of Wadata Plaza marks a return to normalcy, while rival factions have continued to dispute the claims, setting the stage for further legal and political battles within the PDP.
