Why is there so much hatred directed toward Sheikh Ahmad Gumi?

Children of hate, ethno-religious bigots, and victims of prolonged mental brainwashing have taken to the internet to spread hatred, falsehoods, and deliberately fabricated stories about Sheikh Ahmad Gumi. At the core of this hostility is a conscious choice to hate him simply because he is a Muslim and an Islamic cleric. Their prejudice is not based on facts, actions, or evidence, but on deep-seated bias against his faith and religious identity.

Clarification:

Dr. Ahmad Abubakar Mahmud Gumi  has never called for violence or war against any group of people. At no time has he promoted bloodshed or hostility between communities. His consistent and well-documented mission has been to help bring an end to banditry carried out by misguided Muslims who are killing fellow Muslims across Zamfara, Katsina, Sokoto, and surrounding areas. His role has been that of a negotiator, mediator, and peace broker—nothing more and nothing less.

Despite these efforts, he remains a target of relentless attacks. Why are some Christians directing lies, hate speech, name-calling, insults, and deliberate misrepresentation at him?

•Sheikh Ahmad Gumi has never been part or parcel of the Christian Igbo terrorist groups known as IPOB/ESN, who have been responsible for killing fellow Igbo Christians across the South eastern region of Anambra, Enugu, Imo and so on

•He has never been involved in the violent rampages by Christian Jukun groups against fellow Christian Tiv farmers in Taraba state.

•He has never been part of the clashes between Christian Tshobo tribesmen and Christian Bachama tribesmen in Lamurde LGA of Adamawa state.

•Sheikh Gumi never intervened in the farmer–herder crisis in Plateau State, which some pastors have deliberately twisted and framed as a religious war to suit their narratives.

Yet, in spite of his non-involvement in these conflicts, he is persistently singled out, vilified, and demonized. This raises a fundamental question: what truly fuels the restlessness and hostility of ethno-religious bigots who sponsor bloggers to publish concocted lies, encourage fake pastors to preach hatred, and mobilize children of hate to flood the internet with coordinated anti-Gumi campaigns?

For those who may not know the reason behind this hostility, the ethno-religious bigots, fake pastors, hired bloggers, and victims of mental brainwashing claim they are attacking Sheikh Ahmad Gumi for committing the following so-called “crimes,” according to their narrative:

Engaging bandits in dialogue to broker peace:

They consider it a crime that Sheikh Gumi was seen negotiating with bandits in an effort to stop violence and save lives. To them, dialogue is unacceptable because it disrupts their agenda and challenges their desire to see misguided Muslims continue killing fellow Muslims.

Working to end terrorism and insecurity:
Sheikh Gumi’s peace-building efforts threaten their long-standing objective of associating Islam and Muslims with terrorism. They conveniently ignore the reality that many sponsors of terrorism across the world are powerful states and actors they themselves regard as moral authorities or “messiahs.”

In summary, the sustained attacks against Sheikh Ahmad Gumi are not driven by a genuine concern for peace or justice. Rather, they are rooted in religious prejudice, intolerance, hypocrisy, and an entrenched refusal to accept peace-building initiatives led by a Muslim cleric whose efforts expose and challenge narratives of hate and division.

What I want the fake news peddlers and the ethno religion bigots against Sheikh Ahmad Gumi to understand is that he is a retired military officer with deep knowledge of terrorism and the methods used by those who fund and sponsor terrorists to manipulate and destroy communities from within. This understanding is the reason he consistently advocates peace, dialogue, and negotiation rather than endless fighting and bloodshed.

In all his meetings with bandits, Sheikh Gumi is always escorted by security agents and meets them in their respective hideouts strictly for the purpose of negotiation and peace-building.
