A member of the House of Representatives, Raheem Tunji Olawuyi, has clarified comments he made to his constituents on election rigging ahead of the 2027 general election, insisting that the All Progressives Congress (APC) does not engage in electoral malpractice.
Olawuyi, who represents Ekiti/Oke-Ero/Irepodun/Osi Federal Constituency of Kwara State, said the APC’s electoral successes are achieved through strategic grassroots mobilisation, effective organisation and early preparation, rather than rigging.
Speaking during an engagement with party members in Omu-Aran, Irepodun Local Government Area, the lawmaker explained that his remarks were meant to counter widespread perceptions about election manipulation and to boost confidence among party supporters ahead of 2027.
According to him, the APC’s approach focuses on building strong structures at the polling unit level, identifying supporters early and ensuring consistent voter mobilisation long before election day. He noted that when a party is well organised at the grassroots, the issue of rigging becomes irrelevant.
Olawuyi also linked the party’s strategy to the ongoing APC electronic membership registration and revalidation exercise, describing it as a critical step toward strengthening the party’s base. He said the exercise would help the party maintain an accurate and credible membership database and improve coordination during elections.
The lawmaker urged APC members to remain committed to mobilisation efforts, stressing that electoral victory is secured long before votes are cast. He maintained that sustained engagement with voters and strong party presence at the community level remain the APC’s most effective tools as preparations for the 2027 polls gather momentum.
