Troops of have disrupted a key logistics route used by terrorist groups in Zamfara State with the arrest of a suspected ammunition courier in Shinkafi Local Government Area.
The suspect, 25-year-old Shamsiyya Ahadu, was intercepted in the Badarawa axis of Shinkafi while allegedly transporting a large cache of ammunition intended for armed groups operating in the area. Security sources said operatives recovered 764 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition and six rifle magazines from her during the operation.
Investigations indicate that the consignment was reportedly destined for a camp linked to notorious terror kingpin , who has been on the security watchlist for years over deadly attacks across parts of the North-West.
Also arrested in connection with the operation was the motorcycle rider conveying the suspect, identified as Ahmed Husaini. Both suspects are currently in custody and undergoing further interrogation to uncover their network and other possible collaborators.
Military authorities said the interception highlights the increasing use of civilian couriers, including women, to move weapons and ammunition for terror groups, and reaffirmed that Operation Fansan Yamma will continue aggressive patrols, intelligence-led raids and clampdowns on supply chains sustaining armed groups in Zamfara and neighbouring states.
