The Rivers State House of Assembly has passed a resolution urging President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to contest for a second term in the 2027 general election, citing his leadership style and commitment to national development.
The resolution was adopted during plenary on Wednesday following a motion moved by the House Leader, Major Jack, who represents Akuku-Toru I State Constituency. Jack commended President Tinubu for what he described as purposeful leadership and policies aimed at stabilising and repositioning the country.
According to him, the motion reflects the lawmakers’ appreciation of the president’s governance approach and his perceived contributions to the development of Rivers State and the nation at large. He argued that continuity would allow ongoing reforms and projects to yield fuller results.
The motion was co-sponsored by no fewer than 15 members of the Assembly and received the unanimous support of all lawmakers present at the sitting.
With the resolution, the Rivers State House of Assembly joins a growing list of political actors publicly endorsing President Tinubu ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
