The Palace of Ile-Ife has erupted in pride and celebration as His Imperial Majesty, Ooni Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, CFR, Ojaja II, praised Chief Femi Fani-Kayode following his successful clearance by the Nigerian Senate as an Ambassador Nominee of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Delivering the monarch’s message, Sooko (Dr.) Kemade Elugbaju described the Senate’s endorsement as a monumental honour bestowed upon Chief Fani-Kayode and the historic Gbúede lineage from which he descends—a family renowned for its generations of exceptional leadership and trailblazing achievements.
Kabiyesi highlighted the illustrious heritage of the Fani-Kayode family: Chief Remi Fani-Kayode, the iconic Balogun of Ife and formidable “Fani-Power”; Justice Adedapo Kayode, a pioneering jurist and reformer; and Rev. Emmanuel Kayode, one of the early architects of Christianity and social transformation in Ile-Ife.
According to the Ooni, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode—Aare Ajagunla of Otun Ekiti, Sadaukin Shinkafi, Wakilin Doka Potiskum and Otunba Joga Orile—has continued this legacy of excellence through his brilliance, courage, and unwavering devotion to his people. He noted that during his time as Minister of Aviation, Fani-Kayode ensured that many capable indigenes of Osun State were appointed into strategic roles, strengthening federal representation and uplifting the community.
Kabiyesi affirmed that the people of Ifeland and Osun State stand united in their celebration, confident that Fani-Kayode will exceed expectations in his new diplomatic assignment.
The Ooni also extended profound gratitude to President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for honouring Ifeland by appointing one of its illustrious sons to a global role, describing the gesture as a testament to merit, loyalty, and excellence.
He congratulated Chief Femi Fani-Kayode once again, praying for greater grace, wisdom, and success as he prepares to represent Nigeria on the international stage.
God bless the President, God bless Osun State, and God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
