Rayhaan University Welcomes New Students for 2024/2025 Academic Session

Kebbi State and indeed Nigeria recorded an important step forward in private higher education as Rayhaan University Birnin Kebbi, the premier private university in the state, held its Matriculation Ceremony for the 2024/2025 academic session. The well-attended event brought together members of the University Council, the Board of Trustees, senior administrators, faculty, parents, and guests in a ceremony that underscored the growing relevance of private universities in shaping Nigeria’s educational future.

The matriculation marked the official entry of fresh students into Rayhaan University’s academic community. In his address, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. M. L. Ahmad, described the event as more than a formal ritual. He noted it represents a commitment to developing graduates who are intellectually empowered, ethically grounded, and globally competitive. According to him, Rayhaan University was built with the vision of raising a generation of young Nigerians equipped with the skills, discipline, and values required in today’s rapidly evolving world.

Prof. Ahmad highlighted the institution’s modern infrastructure, innovative teaching approach, and student-centered learning environment. He emphasized that the University’s mission is anchored on both academic excellence and character formation, two areas he described as vital for national development. He urged the new students to approach their studies with seriousness and purpose, reminding them that the University is designed to nurture their talents and sharpen their leadership potential.

The ceremony was also attended by Barrister Abubakar Abdulaziz, Managing Director of the Rayhaan Group, and Abiru Rahman Abubakar Malami, Deputy Managing Director. Their presence reflected the strong institutional backing behind Rayhaan University and the Group’s investments in strengthening education not only in Kebbi State but across Nigeria. They reiterated that establishing this University is part of a long-term commitment to expanding access to quality higher education and fostering human capital development in the country.

Speakers at the event paid tribute to the vision of the University’s Proprietor, Abubakar Malami SAN CON, whose decision to situate the institution in Birnin Kebbi has widened educational opportunities for young people and strengthened Kebbi State’s contribution to Nigeria’s academic landscape. They described the University as a model of how private initiatives can complement public efforts in raising the standard of tertiary education nationwide.

Rayhaan University continues to attract attention for its cutting-edge facilities, well-equipped lecture halls, technology-driven learning systems, and forward-looking academic programmes. The institution places a strong emphasis on creativity, research, and the skills needed for global competitiveness, making it one of the most promising private universities emerging from northern Nigeria.

In his closing remarks, Prof. Ahmad expressed confidence that the matriculating students will justify the University’s expectations. He encouraged them to take full advantage of the opportunities available, stressing that discipline, focus, and good character remain the foundation of meaningful success.

The ceremony concluded with optimism from students and their families, many of whom expressed pride in being part of an institution contributing to both Kebbi’s development and Nigeria’s broader educational advancement.
