A governorship aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, Omooba Dotun Babayemi, has said his ambition is driven by a desire to improve governance, stimulate economic growth, and promote all-round development across the state.
Speaking during his ward-to-ward consultation in Gbongan, Ayedaade Local Government Area, Babayemi explained that his decision to contest was born out of a deep commitment to serve and reposition Osun as a model of development in the South-West region.
The APC hopeful disclosed that he had already visited 200 of the 332 wards across the state, engaging directly with residents to identify their needs and challenges. According to him, the purpose of the grassroots tour is to ensure that his development agenda reflects the true aspirations of the people.
“I have gone round to meet our people and listen to their yearnings. My mission is to bring governance closer to the people, harness our abundant human and natural resources, and create an economy that works for everyone,” Babayemi said.
He also emphasized the importance of unity within the APC, calling on party members to close ranks and work together ahead of the next election. He noted that without cohesion, the party might struggle to consolidate its gains and deliver on its promises to the people of Osun.
Babayemi, who has also held consultative meetings with APC leaders across the 30 local government areas of the state, said he would focus on policies that address rural development, youth empowerment, education, and infrastructure renewal.
“Our people deserve responsible leadership and transparent governance. We must restore confidence in government and ensure that every community in Osun feels the impact of progress,” he added.
Political observers believe Babayemi’s extensive grassroots engagement gives him an advantage among party members and voters, positioning him as one of the leading aspirants in the APC ahead of the 2026 governorship election.
