A delegation comprising Alhaji Abubakar Sardauna Zagga, Alhaji Sa’ad Maccido, and Alhaji Murtala Hundeji has commiserated with former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, SAN, CON, over the September 1st attack on him by suspected APC thugs.
The meeting, which took place in Abuja, was both a solidarity and courtesy visit, aimed at standing firmly with Malami in the wake of the incident. The delegation condemned the attack in strong terms, describing it as a desperate act of intimidation that has no place in a democracy.
During the visit, Alhaji Abubakar Sardauna Zagga expressed his readiness to formally join the African Democratic Congress (ADC), noting that he would register with the party in the coming days. “I have decided to join the ADC because it represents a new hope for Kebbi people. Under Malami’s leadership, the party is giving us confidence that politics can once again be about service, fairness, and accountability,” Sardauna declared.
Responding, Malami thanked the delegation for their solidarity and condemned the September 1st attack, describing it as “a cowardly act meant to silence voices of change.” He stressed that violence, thuggery, and intimidation threaten peace and democracy, warning that such acts will only strengthen the resolve of citizens to demand a new political order.
He further noted that the growing acceptance of the ADC in Kebbi State was proof that the people are embracing alternatives that prioritize their welfare over personal interests. “No amount of violence or blackmail will stop the will of the people,” Malami added.
Political observers believe the ADC’s steady rise in Kebbi, reinforced by the alignment of respected figures like Sardauna, Maccido, and Hundeji, signals a major shift in the state’s political landscape. With more leaders rallying behind Malami, the ADC is increasingly being viewed as the future of Kebbi politics and a formidable alternative capable of delivering people-oriented governance.
