Former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, SAN, has joined prominent Nigerians in celebrating the conferment of the Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) title on Dr. Labaran Shuaibu Magaji.
Malami, who attended the swearing-in ceremony in Abuja, described the honour as “a well-deserved recognition of excellence, resilience, and dedication to the legal profession.” He noted that Dr. Magaji’s elevation was not only a personal milestone but also a moment of pride for Nasarawa State and the Nigerian Bar.
The ceremony, presided over by the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, saw 57 distinguished lawyers formally decorated with the SAN rank by the Legal Practitioners’ Privileges Committee (LPPC).
Malami emphasized that the honour underscores the reward for hard work and integrity in the legal profession. “This elevation will inspire greater service to justice and humanity, not only for Dr. Magaji but for the entire legal community in Nasarawa and beyond,” he said.
Dr. Magaji, until recently the Secretary to the Nasarawa State Government, now joins the exclusive class of legal practitioners whose voices are regarded as some of the most influential in Nigeria’s justice system.
The SAN rank, the equivalent of the Queen’s Counsel in the United Kingdom, remains the highest distinction for lawyers in Nigeria, reserved for those who have made significant contributions to the practice and advancement of law.
