The recent attack on the convoy of former Attorney General Abubakar Malami by thugs in Kebbi State is a disturbing development that warrants strong condemnation. In a democratic society like ours, where freedom of movement and freedom of speech are fundamental rights, such acts of violence have no place. The sponsors of these thugs are not unknown to many, and it is disheartening to see politics being taken to this low level.
As we approach the 2027 elections, it is expected that tensions will rise, and such attacks may become more frequent. However, we must emphasize that no amount of violence, insult, or mockery will deter us from our commitment to achieving a better future for the citizens of Kebbi State. We are resolute in our determination to bring about positive change, and we will not be intimidated by the actions of those who seem to thrive on chaos and instability.
It is worth noting that Abubakar Malami is not known for engaging in violent politics. He is a man of peace, with a reputation for being simple, quiet, and genuinely concerned about the welfare of the people. His track record shows that he has never been involved in any reported altercations or attacks on political opponents, whether at the state or national level. It is precisely because of his good heart and commitment to the people that many citizens of Kebbi State have been urging him to contest for a political office, in the hope that he can rescue them from the current failed leadership.
To the sponsors of these thugs, we say: focus on your administration and let the people decide your fate in 2027. If your actions have any positive impact on the citizens of Kebbi State, they will reward you at the ballot box. However, if your policies and actions are detrimental to the well-being of the people, they will surely hold you accountable. The destiny of Kebbi State is not in the hands of a few individuals but in the hands of the people and ultimately, in the hands of God.
We call on all stakeholders to promote peaceful politics and allow the democratic process to unfold without violence. The people of Kebbi deserve better, and it is our collective responsibility to ensure that their voices are heard and their rights are protected.
We must build a future where politics is about uplifting communities, not undermining them through intimidation and thuggery.
