BAUCHI — Former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has once again demonstrated his commitment to education and healthcare development in Nigeria with a ₦15 million donation to two key institutions in Bauchi State.
During a visit to the state on Friday, Obi presented ₦10 million to Malikiya College of Nursing Sciences to strengthen its health training facilities and enhance the quality of medical education for aspiring nurses. He also donated ₦5 million to Intisharu Taufizul Quranic School, aimed at improving infrastructure and advancing Islamic educational programs.
Addressing students and management of the institutions, Obi underscored the critical role of education—both secular and religious—in shaping the nation’s future. He called for greater investment in human capital, noting that an educated and healthy populace remains the foundation of any prosperous society.
The former Anambra State governor revealed that his intervention in Bauchi was part of his annual philanthropic outreach, which supports about 70 nursing schools nationwide. He said this ongoing effort is designed to tackle the shortage of healthcare professionals in Nigeria while promoting moral and religious education.
Management of both institutions expressed gratitude for the gesture, describing it as timely and impactful. They pledged to utilize the funds effectively to achieve the intended goals.
Obi’s Bauchi donation adds to a growing list of interventions he has made across the country, reinforcing his reputation as a leader who continues to channel resources toward education, healthcare, and poverty alleviation—long after his election bid.
