In a decisive offensive against insurgency, troops of Operation Hadin Kai have neutralised 10 Boko Haram terrorists during a clearance operation between Rann and Gamboru Ngala, near the Nigeria–Cameroon border.
Speaking from Maiduguri, the Theatre Commander of the North-East Joint Task Force, Major General Abdulsalam Abubakar, confirmed the encounter took place in the border community of Manawaji, where troops engaged and overpowered the terrorists.
“Our troops are intensifying sustained operations to clear the southern Lake Chad region. During the recent offensive, contact was made with terrorists at Manawaji. Ten were neutralised, and several weapons were recovered, including anti-aircraft ammunition suspected to have been stolen from a previous attack on the Cameroon Defense Force,” Major General Abubakar stated.
Among the recovered items were ordinance-grade weapons and military hardware, reinforcing suspicions of cross-border operations by the insurgents. The clearance comes amid renewed efforts to secure the fringes of Lake Chad, a region known for persistent Boko Haram activity.
Rann, located 183 kilometers from Maiduguri, and Gamboru Ngala, 154 kilometers away, remain strategic border towns vital to Nigeria’s fight against terrorism in the North-East.
