In a significant development that may reshape the future of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Professor Nentawe Yilwatda Goshwe has emerged as the new National Chairman of the ruling party, marking a new chapter in the party's leadership trajectory.
The announcement, made during a high-stakes National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting in Abuja, was met with widespread approval from party faithful, particularly from the North-Central geopolitical zone, where Professor Goshwe hails from. His emergence follows months of internal consultation and political maneuvering within the party ranks after the exit of former chairman Abdullahi Ganduje.
A professor of Artificial Intelligence and a seasoned technocrat, Nentawe Goshwe brings to the table a unique blend of academic rigor, public service experience, and political savvy. He is a former Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Benue State, where he earned accolades for transparency and efficiency in electoral management.
Goshwe, who also contested the Plateau State governorship election under the APC banner in 2023, is widely respected for his grassroots connection and digital innovation strategies, which he has long promoted as essential tools for political mobilization and governance.
Party insiders describe his appointment as a strategic move by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to stabilize the party structure ahead of the 2027 general elections and to consolidate APC’s influence across the Middle Belt and northern states.
Addressing journalists shortly after his confirmation, Professor Goshwe expressed gratitude to party leaders and pledged to reposition the APC as a “people-driven, technology-forward, and policy-centered” political movement.
