Ibadan, Nigeria – July 21, 2025 — Millions of naira worth of property were lost on Sunday after a fire engulfed the recycling section of Shril-Balaj Industrial Ltd. in Ibadan, Oyo State.
According to the Oyo State Fire Service, the inferno was triggered by a machine explosion within the tyre recycling unit of the facility. The blaze rapidly consumed heaps of disused tyres and equipment before firefighters managed to bring it under control.
Spokesperson for the fire service confirmed that while the affected section was completely destroyed, swift intervention helped save other parts of the factory from damage.
No casualties have been reported, and investigations are ongoing to determine the full extent of the loss.
