Midnight Political Earthquake: Top Kebbi Adviser Dumps APC for ADC, Shocks Governor

In a dramatic midnight twist that has shaken Kebbi State’s political landscape, Hon. Abdullahi Hassan Tsamiya — a prominent Special Adviser to the Governor and political heavyweight in Argungu — has officially dumped the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the African Democratic Congress (ADC), declaring his total loyalty to the “Malami Project” ahead of the 2027 gubernatorial elections.

Hon. Tsamiya, popularly known as Danmajen Lailaba and revered as the Garkuwan Tsamiya Maka, is not just another defector. He is a political colossus in Argungu Local Government Area, having served as LGA Chairman twice and represented his people in the Kebbi State House of Assembly for two consecutive terms (2015–2023). Until his shock defection, he was serving as Special Adviser to the Governor from his home base — Lailaba Ward in Argungu.

Sources confirmed that at exactly 2:00 AM, Kebbi State Deputy Governor, accompanied by a high-powered delegation from the Governor’s inner circle, stormed Tsamiya’s residence unannounced — a move that initially left him startled and fearing for his safety. But instead of confrontation, the delegation came on bended knees, begging the seasoned politician not to abandon the ruling party.

But Tsamiya’s response was unflinching.

“I am a politician of the people, and my people — the talakawa — are weeping,” he declared before the delegation. “There is too much poverty, too much insecurity. Bandits have taken over. From Lakurawa to the borders of Niger, even into Zamfara and Sokoto, our people are running, suffering, and abandoned.”

According to him, after extensive consultations with grassroots leaders and his loyal supporters, the overwhelming decision was for him to join the ADC — a party he believes is more aligned with the suffering masses and capable of delivering real change.

“I believe in the Malami project,” he added, referring to former Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami (SAN), whose expected 2027 governorship ambition is fast gaining momentum. “I will galvanize my people from Argungu to every border settlement. I will deliver them to the ADC in their thousands, because they believe in me — and I believe in Malami. Come 2027, In Sha Allah, we shall reclaim Kebbi.”

The defection of Hon. Tsamiya is already causing tremors within the APC, with insiders admitting the ruling party has lost one of its most reliable and deeply rooted grassroots mobilizers in Kebbi North. His vast influence across Argungu and adjoining areas makes this a major win for the ADC.

Political analysts say this move could mark a turning point in the build-up to the 2027 elections, especially as the Malami political structure continues to gain traction across the state.

More defections are expected in the coming weeks.
