Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has sent a strong appeal to members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its coalition allies, urging them not to abandon the party over internal challenges.
Speaking in Ibadan after the PDP South West caucus meeting, Governor Makinde used a vivid analogy, comparing the current issues within the party to a leaking roof in a family home, which should prompt repairs—not desertion.
“You don’t run away from your house because the roof is leaking. You fix it,” Makinde said passionately. “Our party may be facing difficulties, but walking away will only weaken us further.”
The governor emphasized the importance of unity, adding that the solution lies in confronting the issues together and building a stronger PDP in preparation for upcoming elections.
Makinde’s comments come at a critical time when internal wrangling and defections have continued to pose threats to the PDP’s cohesion across the country. He called on leaders and grassroots members alike to recommit to the ideals of the party and work collectively to chart a winning course for the future.
