In the heart of Nigeria’s growing crisis—rampant inflation, collapsing institutions, rising insecurity, and a broken economy—a bold and uncomfortable truth is beginning to echo across the nation: The All Progressives Congress (APC) is no longer a political party; it is an illegal structure hijacked by power-hungry elites who have defiled its founding vision. And that is precisely why the emerging national coalition needs a fearless voice like Mallam Nasir El-Rufai—to lead the charge for its complete dismantling.
APC, once hailed as a beacon of hope in 2015, has become an illegal operation in both principle and practice. It has mutated into a fraudulent enterprise—a political brothel where impunity, deceit, and manipulation reign supreme. The party’s internal structure is in total violation of its own constitution and the laws of the land. According to INEC’s documented concerns, APC failed to conduct valid congresses in over 20 states, relying instead on caretaker committees, manipulated delegates’ lists, and forceful imposition of candidates.
The party has failed to organize proper ward, local government, and state congresses, operating on illegalities disguised as "consensus" and “unity lists.” Section 223 of the 1999 Constitution is clear: political parties must conduct democratic internal elections periodically. APC has continuously flouted this law with impunity. It is running on court injunctions, temporary fixes, and emergency leadership arrangements—an illegal structure by every democratic standard.
Beyond legality, the consequences of APC's misrule are staggering. Under its watch:
- 133 million Nigerians now live in multidimensional poverty.
- The national debt has soared to ₦97.3 trillion, a nearly tenfold increase from 2015.
- Inflation is above 33.95%, with food inflation pushing past 40%.
- The naira has collapsed to ₦1,560 per dollar in the black market.
- Unemployment and underemployment haunt over 50% of Nigerian youth.
The APC has become a refuge for the very elements it claimed to fight. Corrupt figures are celebrated, while dissenters are persecuted. Internal democracy is dead, and governance has become a tool for self-enrichment and media propaganda.
This is why the national coalition—comprising disillusioned patriots, technocrats, youths, and true progressives—needs Nasir El-Rufai. Not as a candidate or presidential hopeful, but as the man bold enough to sound the alarm and demand the demolition of the illegal political architecture now choking the republic.
El-Rufai, though a founding member of the APC, has shown rare courage in calling out the rot. He is not seeking power but justice.
