Trump Responds to Musk’s Apology Over Critical Comments

By Douglas Jones

After Elon Musk expressed regret over his recent social media criticism of former President Donald Trump, Trump responded with a measured tone, saying he has “no hard feelings” but is focused solely on “straightening out the country.”

“I regret some of my posts about President [Trump] last week,” Musk wrote on Wednesday, admitting they “went too far.” Asked by the New York Post if he was open to reconciling with Musk, Trump replied, “I guess I could, but we have to straighten out the country… that’s my sole function now.”

While Trump had previously said he might cut federal funding for Musk’s companies and had no desire to speak with the Tesla CEO, he appeared to leave the door open for a better relationship, stating again, “no hard feelings.”

Pressed by Post columnist Miranda Devine on comments he made suggesting Musk “has a problem,” Trump dismissed speculation, saying: “I don’t know what his problem is, really… I haven’t thought too much about him in the last little while.”

Musk, for his part, has posted remarks on social media signaling a desire to mend fences.
