The Nigerian Air Force (NAF), under the ongoing Operation Hadin Kai, has delivered a significant blow to terrorist operations in Borno State, destroying an improvised explosive device (IED) factory and multiple gun trucks in a well-coordinated airstrike.
The strike, which took place on Wednesday in Kwaltiri, located within the notorious Tumbuktu Triangle, targeted a high-value terrorist enclave following credible intelligence reports of heightened insurgent activities in the area.
Confirming the operation in a statement released Thursday, NAF spokesperson Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet said the air interdiction mission was launched after surveillance missions confirmed the presence of an active IED production site and several vehicles used by the insurgents.
“The precision bombing by NAF aircraft successfully destroyed the IED facility and neutralized multiple threats, including armed vehicles prepared for attacks,” the statement noted.
The successful strike is seen as a major tactical achievement in the fight against insurgency in the Northeast, as it disrupts the militants’ capability to launch further attacks using explosives and mobile firepower.
The NAF reiterated its commitment to eliminating terrorist elements and denying them freedom of movement or logistics support within the region.
