Makera Traders Back Malami for 2027, Call on Him to Join Guber Race

In another strong show of support for Dr. Abubakar Malami, SAN, ahead of the 2027 governorship election in Kebbi State, members of the Makera Traders Association have openly declared their loyalty and appealed to the former Minister of Justice to throw his hat into the ring.

Led by their chairman, Malami Abdullahi Makera, the traders paid a solidarity visit to Malami at his private office in Abuja earlier today. The delegation said their visit was driven by a collective desire to see Kebbi governed by a competent, experienced, and people-oriented leader.

Speaking on behalf of the association, Malami Abdullahi Makera said:

> “We are here on behalf of thousands of traders across the state who believe in your leadership. We have come to beg you, not just ask — we want you to run for governor in 2027. You’ve served the nation well, now we need you at home.”

The Makera Traders Association is one of the oldest and most influential grassroots commercial bodies in Kebbi State, with members spread across Birnin Kebbi, Argungu, and Yauri markets. Their endorsement is viewed as a major boost to Malami’s potential candidacy, especially among market-based voters and small-scale business owners.

Makera emphasized that the association had begun sensitizing its members and mobilizing support structures in anticipation of Malami’s formal declaration. He noted that many traders benefited directly and indirectly from Malami’s federal initiatives and believed his leadership could bring more inclusive economic policies to Kebbi State.

> “Our markets need revival. Our youth need jobs. Our women need capital. We believe Malami is the only one who can turn promises into action,” Makera added.

Though Malami has not yet publicly declared his intention to contest in 2027, the steady stream of endorsements — from youth leaders to former council chairmen and now trade unions — underscores the growing public expectation that he will answer the call.

As political consultations deepen and alliances form, today’s visit by the Makera Traders Association signals another powerful vote of confidence in the man many already consider Kebbi’s best hope for purposeful governance.
