In a sustained effort to reclaim ungoverned spaces and crush the reign of terror in the North-West, the gallant troops of the Joint Task Force under Operation Fagge Fasan Yama launched a successful offensive on 23rd May 2025 against criminal enclaves in Ruwan Godiya, a notorious hotspot in Faskari Local Government Area of Katsina State.
According to military sources, the troops engaged the terrorists in a fierce exchange of gunfire that sent shockwaves through the underworld. Overpowered by the superior firepower and tactical coordination of the Nigerian forces, the criminals fled their base in disarray. In a hot pursuit that followed, 21 terrorists were neutralized, with some reportedly drowning while attempting to escape through a nearby river.
The well-coordinated mission also led to the recovery of a significant cache of arms and ammunition. Items recovered at the scene included high-powered rifles, machine guns, magazines, explosives, communication gadgets, mobile phones, and several operational motorcycles, effectively crippling the mobility and logistics capacity of the terror network in the area.
Security analysts have hailed the operation as a bold statement of the military’s renewed commitment to rooting out insurgents and restoring peace to the region, in line with the counter-terrorism blueprint of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.
This decisive blow comes at a time when citizens and stakeholders have been demanding tougher actions against the rising wave of terrorism and banditry, especially in frontline states like Katsina.
Further updates are expected as mop-up operations and intelligence analysis continue.
