Former Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Yauri Local Government Area of Kebbi State, Alhaji Rabiu Suleiman Gulma, has called on former Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, SAN, to contest the 2027 governorship election in Kebbi State.

In a passionate declaration of support, Alhaji Gulma described Malami as the ideal candidate to take Kebbi State to greater heights, citing his wealth of experience, national recognition, and deep understanding of governance as qualities needed to reposition the state.

"Though Malami has not officially declared his intention, we, his supporters, are calling on him to throw his hat into the ring. He is the kind of leader Kebbi needs at this critical time,” Gulma stated.

Gulma further pledged his unwavering commitment to rally support for Malami, promising to mobilise loyalists, community leaders, and APC stakeholders across the state to back his potential bid.

“I am ready to lead this call and mobilise across the 21 local government areas with my supporters. Malami has what it takes to unite Kebbi and drive real development,” he added.

The appeal by Alhaji Gulma is one of the earliest and strongest endorsements yet for Malami ahead of the 2027 elections. It underscores growing anticipation within the APC that the former AGF may be considering a return to active politics at the state level.

Observers say if Malami heeds the call, he would be entering the race with a formidable network of supporters and an established reputation for service delivery and reform.

While Malami has remained silent on his political plans, voices like Alhaji Gulma’s reflect the growing momentum behind a possible 2027 campaign.
