As Muslims across the country prepare for the Eid-el-Kabir celebrations, the Jigawa State Police Command has issued a stern warning to the public, particularly livestock and animal dealers, to be vigilant against the circulation of counterfeit currency during the festive period.
In a statement made available to journalists, the Command cautioned that criminals may attempt to take advantage of the busy festive market to defraud unsuspecting traders by using fake naira notes.
"Animal dealers and members of the public should scrutinize every transaction carefully, especially those involving large sums of money," the statement read. "Anyone who suspects foul play or receives suspicious currency notes should report immediately to the nearest police station or any available security outfit for swift intervention."
The Command reassured residents that adequate security arrangements have been put in place to ensure a peaceful and hitch-free Sallah celebration across the state.
The police further called for increased community vigilance, cooperation with law enforcement, and timely intelligence sharing, emphasizing that safeguarding economic activities during the festive period is a collective responsibility.
