In a significant political development, the Association of Kebbi State Indigenes Residing in Abuja (AKIRA) paid a courtesy visit to former Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, SAN, at his private office in Abuja.
The delegation, led by the Chairman of the association, Alhaji Isah Tsando Kangiwa, passionately appealed to Malami to throw his hat into the ring and contest for the governorship of Kebbi State in the 2027 elections.
Speaking on behalf of the group, Alhaji Kangiwa described Malami as a visionary leader and bridge-builder whose wealth of experience and unwavering dedication to public service make him the ideal candidate to reposition Kebbi State for greater development.
“We are convinced that you remain the most qualified person to consolidate the gains of democracy in our dear state. Your leadership at the national level has proven your capacity. It is time to bring that experience back home,” Kangiwa stated.
He noted that the state was in dire need of credible leadership that could harness its vast agricultural and economic potential, adding that the people of Kebbi would benefit immensely from Malami’s legal and political expertise.
In his response, Abubakar Malami, SAN, thanked the delegation for their visit and confidence in his capacity. While acknowledging the call to serve, he emphasized the importance of unity, peace, and development in Kebbi State, promising to consult widely and consider their request in due course.
The meeting was marked by warm camaraderie, traditional blessings, and expressions of hope for a brighter future for Kebbi State.
